Definition - Posture

Posture for me has come to mean something different when thought of in the context of Massage Therapy.
A Massage Therapist must be equally aware of themselves as well as their client. It is impotant to learn the correct stance and posture at the beginning of the learning process so that little/few "bad habits" are formed. The Massage Therapist must create a strong base of support from which their weight can be transferred easily throughout the massage. If the correct posture is adopted both the client and massage therapist will benetit greatly.

I belive that the clients posture needs to remain neutral on the table in order for the massage to be most beneficial. They may also need to be educated as to the correct posture so that they can reduce injury and pain in the future.
